OAKELEY

This branch is interesting, as Sir Charles Oakeley was the Governor of Madras; he married a young artist, Helena BEATSON and they had 15 children; her aunt was a famour artist. Some members of this family including Sir Charles were involved in the slave trade, including Louisa’s husban Geoege REID who tried to get his brother-in-law Roger KYNASTON involved too.

Below is a picture of the fasmily tree centered around Sir Charles and Helena, so the lines for KYNASTON, REID and MOTT can be seen clearly. Roger MOTT has written a book about the KYNASTON family, and also one on the MOTTs. Sorry about the size in the picture, but 15 children is a lot to fit in!
