FOSSICK

FOSSICK is an unusual surname, which appears to emanate from the area in North Yorkshire in the area of Northallerton and in the Vale of York around there, bordering on the Cleveland Hills and east of the Pennines. The latest in the direct line of ascent is Sarah FOSSICK who married John Beaumont PEASE. Sarah is herself descended from Hannah RICHARDSON, who sister Lydia who granddaughter Mary married Joseph PEASE. So although there is onyl one line with FOSSICK there are more lines indeed linking RICHARDSON to PEASE.

The PEASE side goes back, via the FOX family in Falmouth, to the LLOYDs, originally in Dolobran, north Wales and who were Quaker bankers. The Peases fought slavery, had women as preachers from the early days, and Edward Pease [the brother of a direct ancestor] bankrolled George Stephenson and is therefore known as ‘the father of the Railways’

Below are six generations in the line of direct ascent of the FOSSICK family as we know them so far: they were Quakers. However we know of other branches of the family in the same area who appear not to have been Quakers, but trying to show the link has not happened so far!
