ROBERTON

There is a small town called Roberton on the borders, closer to Carlisle than to Newcastle. We dont know if the family emanate from there, and, if they did, another branch clearly developed in Lanarkshire, closer to Glasgow, presumably at a similar time when our ROBERTONs came to the Roxburgh area.

Below is the seven generations we know about, taking us the the first HARVEY when Ellen Margueretta ROBERTON married William 4 HARVEY.

Note also that in the records, we sometimes find family members as ROBERTSON, which is much more difficult to research as there are lots more of them!

Below are the seven generations in a direct line of ascent from James Roberton HARVEY back to William ROBERTON in the 1600s. Descendents from other ROBERTONS are being added as they are prepared for this website
