In the name of God Amen. I Jane Barnett of Ormeau Road near Belfast in the County of Antrim- Widow- do make and publish this my last will and testament as follows: hereby revoking every such will by me at any time heretofore made. That is to say
I give and bequeath to my son the Revd John Barnett DD of Moneymore – and my daughters Rebecca Widow of the late William Harvey of Yoker- Jane wife of William Walker- formerly of Carrick Fergus – but now of Cincinnati in the US of America. Catharine wife of Henry Reid of Belfast aforesaid and Anna wife of James Montgomery also of Belfast aforesaid all my property whereof I may die possessed or to which I may be entitled- of every kind, quality and description except what may be hereafter specifically bequeathed to be equally divided amongst them- share and share alike- the share of any of my said daughters. Who shall be married at the time of my decease to be to her sole and separate use- free from the controue and not subject to the engagements of the husband of such daughters To be paid to such daughters on her own sole receipt or otherwise- if my executors shall in their discretion think fit to be applied to and for her sole use and benefit in such manner as they may from t to t think fit. Her own sole receipt to be a sufficient discharge for any sum which may be so applied as they may from t to t or at any time think fit- and I do hereby declare that the reason why I have not included in the above bequest my daughter Margaret Miller Widow of the late Arthur K Miller – formerly of Whitehouse near Belfast is- that from her state of health and her affluent circumstances she does not require it. I give and bequeath to my grandson Barnett Harvey my gold watch and to my daughter Rebecca Harvey the miniature portrait of her late father /and
NEW PAGE /and my own easy chair- I give and bequeath to Rebecca McClelland of Ballymakinch daughter of the late John McClelland of said place and niece of my late husband my shares in the Belfast public brewery during the terms of her natural. Life- to return at her death to my surviving children. I nominate and appoint my son the Revd John Barnett DD and my son in law Henry Reid to be executors …… dated 17th April 1861.
CODICIL
As it has pleased almighty god that I should survive my daughter Rebecca Harvey, she having departed this life on the 7th day of May Instant- revoke bequest to her, to direct that the sum divided among the daughters of my deceased children namely Lizzie Steen and Mima Wilson daughters of my son the late James Barnett. Jane Wilson, Rebecca Harvey and Marg’t Auchinloss daughters of my late daughter Rebecca Harvey aforesaid. Jane Breakey daughter of my late daughter Marg’t Miller and Jane Fleming, Marion Harvey and Sarah Harvey daughters of my late daughter Sarah Harvey. This codicil to the above, my last will & testament I make this 16th day of May 1863 and thereto affix my hand.
