John HARVEY (1787- 1847) of Garthamlock was the son of John HARVEY (1748-1817) and Marion MORRISON (1752- 1811). He married Margaret GOURLAY (1803- 11881) of Paisley, daughter of John GOURLAY (ca1765-1840) and Mary HARVIE (1777- 1828). Below is a transcription of his will

At Glasgow the 25th September 1847 Compeared James Mitchell Writer Glasgow and gave in the Inventory to be recorded whereof the tenor follows:
Inventory of the personal Estate of the late John Harvey Esquire of Garthamlock who died on the 19th day of February 1847.
At Glasgow and upon the 24th day of September in the year 1847. In Presence of Archibald Alison Esquire Advocate Commissary Depute of Lanarkshire . Compeared personally Robert Harvey Distiller at Dundas Hill who being solemnly sworn and examined Depones. That John Harvey Esquire of Garthamlock near Glasgow died there on or about the nineteenth day of February Eighteen Hundred and forty seven and the Deponent has along with William Harvey Distiller at Yoker James Harvey Wine and Spirit Merchant Paisley and James Mitchell Writer Glasgow entered upon the possession and management of the deceased personal Estate as accepting Executors nominated and appointed by the deceased in Disposition on Trust and Deed of Settlement executed by him on 98th March 1836 and Codicil thereto annexed dated 25th September 1846 which are now exhibited and signed by the Deponent and the said Commissary of this date as relative hereto. That the Deponent Confirmed 28 Sept 1847 does not know of any Settlement or writing relative to the disposal of the deceaseds personal Estate and Effects or any part thereof other than that now exhibited. That the foregoing Inventory which is sub-scribed by the Deponent and the said Commissary as relative hereto is a full and true Inventory of all the personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased John Harvey wherever situated already recovered or known to the Deponent to be existing belonging or due to the deceased beneficially at the time of his death and that the Estate all of which is situated in Scotland is of the value of £9000 and under the value of £10000.
